REANNE THACKER

Reanne Thacker is a native of Beaufort, South Carolina.  Her love of pottery began when she was a teenager living on Coosaw Island.  Reanne would spend many hours walking the dusty dirt roads and combing the island beaches looking for pottery shards and other artifacts left by early settlers of the island.  Her collections consist of pipe stems, pieces of bowls, jugs, and a couple of intact clay ink wells.   Reanne considers herself to be a self-taught potter and has spent many hours observing, taking classes, and working with various lowcountry potters.

Reanne continues to live on Coosaw Island where she has a studio overlooking the Coosaw River.  Her pottery is functional stoneware, which is dishwasher and oven safe. Reanne’s ability to capture the natural environment of her surroundings is reflected in her glazes and whimsical way of adorning her pottery with a touch of the lowcountry, her home.
